The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).Position summaryDr. Ferri’s Laboratory is a translational research lab and part of the Thoracic Surgery and Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Laboratories (https://www.mcgill.ca/thoracic/research-innovation) at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). We are seeking a highly motivated experienced Laboratory Technician in Esophageal/ Gastric Cancer Research.The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be involved in several projects: • Derivation and maintenance of human-derived organoid model systems, • Processing of human tissue and blood samples for downstream genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics assays, • Optimization and performance of high-throughput drug screens to assess response to therapy in models of esophageal and gastric cancers.General Duties • Participate in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments,• Perform experimental manipulations, including optimization and development of procedures,• Record results, perform calculations and compile data.• Maintain records, files and databases,• Use a variety of equipment appropriate to assigned tasks,• Assist with preparation of reports and manuscripts,• Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data,• Review and become familiar with relevant literature • Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

Education: Bachelor's Degree Field of Study: Biology, Immunology or related field.Work Experience: At least 1-2 years
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision after appropriate training,• Detail-oriented and able to multitask,• Experience working in cell culture, preferably with primary cell lines and human tissue,• Ability to troubleshoot procedures and protocols,• Ability to work with clinicians and basic scientists.
