The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).Position summaryDr. Jacques Genest Lab (https://rimuhc.ca/-/jacques-genest-md-frcpc) at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is seeking motivated and/or experienced PhD or Postdoctoral Research Fellow applicants to study the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and the development of novel anti-atherosclerotic drug therapies. As a highly multi-disciplinary lab using cells, tissues and animal models, there are excellent opportunities to learn skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, computational drug discovery, and animal biology. In addition, the RI-MUHC providing state-of-the-art instruments, cutting-edge techniques and consultative services will further help promote career progression. General DutiesThe current area of interest in the lab is to examine the role of small molecules in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis in cell-based and animal models. Although the successful candidate will have substantial input into their specific project, the candidate will also benefit from being involved in: • The design and experimentation, and data analysis,• Assisting with preparation of reports, manuscripts and grant applications,• Presentation of results at local, national and international meetings.
Priority will be given to applicants with working knowledge or experience in mouse models of atherosclerosis, protein-protein interactions, molecular cloning, and/or lipid and lipoprotein analyses. Doctoral researcher candidates will have Master’s degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. Postdoctoral candidates will have a PhD in a related field.
