Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
This position, based at the Montreal General Hospital immediately adjacent to the outpatient clinics, will be involved in clinical and translational research focusing primarily on patients undergoing thoracic surgery for esophagus, stomach and lung cancer as well as benign conditions of the chest and foregut. The incumbent will be a part of an integrative team comprised of clinical research associate, data manager, clinical and research trainees, and 8 surgeon scientists. In addition to several retrospective studies, the incumbent will participate in prospective clinical trials and international collaborative studies.

General Duties
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Recruit patients to the central biobank of gastric/esophageal cancers, clinical trials and projects related to foregut benign conditions (i.e., identifies and screens potential subjects and obtains informed consent),
• Coordinate study visits and necessary exams (CT, blood collections, etc.) as per study protocol,
• Execute all aspects of study visit as necessary (administering questionnaires, reporting adverse events and coordinating with principal investigator regarding trial-specific evaluations),
• Participate in the completion of study logs in the regulatory binder and maintaining patient files for clinical trials,
• Participate in data entry and respond to external data requests,
• Perform other duties and projects related to the position as required.

Education / Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: medical-related field

Required Skills

• Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (In particular Excel).

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time
Pay Scale: $43,316.00 - $80,425.80 Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Mondays to Fridays
Work Site: Montreal General Hospital (1650 Cedar Avenue, Montreal)
