RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
The CHILD-BRIGHT Network is an innovative pan-Canadian network that aims to improve life outcomes for children with brain-based developmental disabilities and their families. We are headquartered at the McGill University Health Centre Research Institute, and work under Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) initiative. www.child-bright.ca 



Reporting to the Director of Operations and under the supervision of the Citizen Engagement Program Coordinator, the CHILD-BRIGHT Data Custodian will advance the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda of CHILD-BRIGHT by exploring the EDI landscape in a research environment, gathering any available best practices or approaches in the area and considering the information available within CHILD-BRIGHT and considering methods to gather additional information to inform CHILD-BRIGHT’s approach to EDI. The Data Custodian will also assist the Research Program Manager in strategic planning and research prioritization exercises that will include supporting interviewing key stakeholders about research themes that CHILD-BRIGHT will consider in future funding applications.

General Duties
• Completing an environmental scan of the work being done in research or related environments in the area of EDI
• Becoming familiar with the data repositories and software (REDCap) where baseline data from the CHILD-BRIGHT network is currently stored
• Working with the Program Coordinators, Communications staff, Executive Committee members, patient-partners, and external partners to consider the content of a survey to better understand the needs of network members in this area
• Consolidating information gathered to inform the approach CHILD-BRIGHT will take to move the principles of EDI forward within the CHILD-BRIGHT network.
• Liaising with network members and external partners that may include scheduling meetings, taking minutes, gathering and sharing information
• Scheduling and participating in semi-structured interviews with researchers and patient-partners to obtain a deeper understanding of research themes that CHILD-BRIGHT should consider for future funding applications.
• Assisting with organizing interview responses.

Education / Experience

• Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, an undergraduate program related to health, education, or social science
• Have demonstrated interest in the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
• Have strong oral and written communication skills. Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
• Have access to a computer, stable wi-fi connection, and the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, OneDrive etc.)
• Have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Be dedicated to your work, and have a strong desire to learn and work well with inter-disciplinary teams
• Have the ability to plan and organize your work to successfully meet deadlines
• Be curious and interested in learning to work with new software such as REDCap
• Have an interest in contributing to strategic planning and health research prioritization exercises.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full-time (8-week period)
Pay Scale: 17$ to 20$/hour
Work Shift: 35 hours/week, from Monday-Friday
Work Site: Remote position
