RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
As a member of our team, you will have the pride to work in one of the largest research centers in Canada and your contribution will support important biomedical research.

Reporting to the EDI Specialist, the EDI Advisor supports and provides advice on the implementation of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre’s (RI-MUHC) Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan. The incumbent provides the EDI, HR, programs and research teams with advice, support, assistance and guidance to ensure that each member of the RI-MUHC community feels valued, respected and supported in the development of their full potential and to make the RI-MUHC a space free from discrimination and harassment.
The EDI Advisor works closely with various constituents to ensure the achievement of the four EDI Action Plan goals:
1) Create and maintain an inclusive work climate at the RI-MUHC,
2) Strengthen the EDI-related skills of members,
3) Communicate and celebrate institutional diversity,
4) Document and innovate on EDI organizational and research best practices.


General Duties
• Provides strategic advice, coaching and counsel to researchers and managers on the achievement of the EDI action plan goals in their teams.
• Offers advice to employees and research personnel on EDI topics (e.g., targeted recruitment, inclusive representation in teams and projects, inclusive work climate, addressing and reporting harassment and conflict, equity policies and measures, etc.).
• Develops and supports the delivery and deployment of EDI programs, training material, research and processes.
• Collaborates with researchers and managers to ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of innovative EDI practices in support of research programs' and division’s needs and objectives.
• Supports the update and analysis of institutional data related to the representation and inclusion of the equity-seeking groups in administration and research
• Participates in the development of initiatives, tools, pedagogic materials, and projects related to the inclusion of equity-seeking groups as members of research and administration teams or as research participants.
• Conducts internal EDI assessment activities
• Contributes to the organization of awareness-raising and training events
• Participates in the development of opportunities and calls for proposals to strengthen the EDI strategies of the RI-MUHC.
• Contribute to continuous improvements & best practices to influence EDI strategies at the institutional levels.
• Represents the RI-MUHC in strategic spaces to consolidate institutional leadership, innovation and knowledge exchange on the EDI area and sectors related.

Education / Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: Feminist and gender studies, intercultural communication, organizational communication, organizational change, Indigenous studies, social sciences, political science, EDI.

Proven engagement to social justice projects for equity-seeking groups will be considered an asset.

Work Experience: 6 months
Experience in conducting research will be considered an asset.

Required Skills

• Fluency to communicate clearly in French and English, spoken and written,
• Skilled in building and maintaining interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
• Skilled in the defense of ideas with proven arguments,
• Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite,
• Dynamic and versatile with a sense of autonomy,
• Prouven time and priority management skills,
• Professional and attention to detail.

Additional information

Status : Temporary Full Time (1 year contract)
Pay Scale: $48,503.00 - $90,090.00
Work Shift: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Work Site: Hybrid
Glen and Guy sites, and remotely
